Here's a note from Chester Bowling at OSU (below). Chet sees the value in building networks between the Women's Enterprise Network activities and local efforts by women at the General Motors Plant in Parma that connected to students at the NEO High School, John Adams High School. I've suggested they begin by adding their story to the WENetwork channel, participate in our summer Live Shows, and think about leading a future Live Show discussion.

"My name is Chester Bowling and I work for Ohio State University Extension. During the last half of 2007 and the first quarter of 2008 a colleague of mine and I helped the Cleveland Ward 2 Education Committee hold an Education Summit for John Adams High School.  The focus of the Summit, which was funded in part by America's Promise, was to increase the graduation rate.

One of the most outstanding outcomes of the Summit was a program put together by a group of women from the General Motors plant in Parma.  The women, all GM employees and members of an international organization called "Women in Manufacturing," took 93 girls from John Adams High School to the Parma plant and introduced them to the world of manufacturing.  The John Adams students who participated in the program were transformed and are looking forward to another opportunity to learn more about professional opportunities for women next year.  This program is an outstanding example of how professional women can engage with high school girls in a way that changes lives for the better.

I'm wondering if the Women's Enterprise Network would be willing to be a partner with us as we make more connections between the girls at John Adams High School and professional women all across Northeast Ohio?
