Here is a very interesting article in today's (July 22) New York Times that I think is worthwhile reading.
Women in the workplace are being afflicted by the same troubles as men. And they are responding as men have, by dropping out or disappearing for a while. Women across the country in their prime earning years are struggling with an unfriendly economy and retreating from the workforce either permanently or for long stretches.
Economists at first thought that women were dropping out of the workforce to stay at home and take care of the family and then found that not to be the case. This is an enormous problem since it takes 2 incomes to support a family in today's economy.
