Follow up to Sept 24, 2008 PotLuck Dinner: WENetwork.com presents "Got City Game - Cleveland!"

Posted  by Betsey Merkel.

The Quarterly Pot Luck Dinners provide a window for busy women and guests to gather together for quality time to get to know more about each other and learn something new about a Women's Enterprise Network member initiative.

Our September showcase initiative featured "Got City Game - Cleveland," an initiative created and lead by Barbara Oney and T.L. Champion, both members of the Women's Enterprise Network. Barbara and T.L. provided a first hand account and personal stories of what they envision Got City Game will bring to Northeast Ohio, and in the future, to other cities. You can see pictures here.

The Cleveland pilot is a competitive team based game, and will achieve several important objectives at once: it will showcase quality, connected places in Cleveland, offer a dynamic form of entertainment attracting all Northeast Ohio students representing their Universities, and build sorely needed social  networks. The recurring event is all wrapped up with incentives that include scholarships and one, rent-free downtown condominium address.

Here's a quote from the Crain's Cleveland article July 3, 2008, "They Got Game":

The women envision four two-person teams competing in a 12-destination, 12-hour race through Cleveland destinations, earning points for tasks along the way. Footage filmed that day then would be edited into a dozen episodes of a few minutes each, “aired” online over a six-week period. The winning team would be determined by a combination of its points and the results of viewer voting. Read the full article.

The initiative will broadcast and archive video footage available on a regional information portal. The protal will aggregating the activities and provide news and information of interest to students.

The initiative showcases Northeast Ohio place based hot spots and brings together our regional network of colleges and universities and their students by building social networks through team based activities - combining the best of small teams working together to achieve a shared goal and prize while exploring regional destination hot spots they may not be familiar with!

Save the date for our next Quarterly PotLuck Dinner is Wednesday, January 28, 2009. We're looking for a host - let Gloria, Susan or Betsey know if you would like to host the next conversation or provide the WENetwork initiative showcase for the January dinner. Email us!
